Married People

How does your church support marriage? In my ministry experience I have seen the church playing two primary roles:

1. Pre-Marital Counseling. This is probably what the church does best, and it's important that we do this well.

2. Counseling couples in crisis. Some couples will seek help when they are in crisis, but they have usually already decided to call it quits at this point.

So, what is the church doing between these two and to prevent a marriage from getting to the crisis stage?

I believe churches are uniquely positioned to help marriages, and we must do everything we can build stronger marriages. Our church has decided to institute a proactive strategy to strengthen marriages and we are excited to be a part of the marriage ministry team.

The strategy we will be implementing includes 3 main components: 1. Large Group Events, 2. Small Groups, and 3. Date Nights. We will blog more about these as our plans unfold.
